Black History Month

Black History Month was launched in 2008 and developed after talks with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community groups indicated strong support for a specific cultural program.

The community groups suggested a range of activities for the broader community to enjoy and better understand the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Brisbane.

Black History Month runs throughout July each year, offering a range of unique experiences including family fun days, children's story time, dance performances, garden tours, community stalls, art exhibitions and more.
