Beams Road upgrade - Night and weekend construction works

As a part of our plan to upgrade the Beams Road corridor, we will be undertaking major works along both Beams Road and Dorville Road in a continuous period of night and weekend works.

Doing these works over a continuous period will reduce the overall amount of night works required to complete the upgrade by approximately five weeks.

Night works

Night works to complete initial asphalting will take place Sunday 30 June to Thursday 4 July 2024, between 7pm and 5am, weather and site conditions permitting.

These works will involve installing new road pavement along Beams Road, at the Dorville Road intersection and through to Balcara Avenue.

You may experience:

  • Increased lighting and noise from plant and machinery operating throughout the night/morning.
  • Low levels of vibration and odour from asphalt.
  • Due to workplace health and safety requirements, reversing beepers cannot be switched off.

Weekend works

During this time, Dorville Road between Beams Road and Matisse Street, will be closed to all motorists, with local traffic only permitted to travel into the restricted traffic area. Some directly impacted stakeholders may have short term access restrictions and will be contacted directly. Please follow the direction of detour signage and traffic controllers on site.

Changes traffic conditions

New traffic arrangements will be implemented along Beams Road, to move both lanes of traffic onto the new road pavement, between Dorville Road and Balcara Avenue, from Monday 8 July 2024. These new traffic arrangements will be in place until late 2024.

  • There will be reduced speed limits, lane closures, changes to traffic flow and short-term traffic disruptions.
  • Follow signage and the direction of traffic control when travelling through the area.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained with some temporary detours in place.

Bus stop closures

Two bus stops on Dorville Road (ID 10256 & 10018) and two stops on Balcara Avenue (ID 10000 & 10020) will be temporarily closed from 7pm Friday 5 July to 5am Monday 8 July 2024. Please use alternative bus stops on Beams Road (ID 3366 & 3367) or at Carseldine Station (ID 3365) to access the 335 bus service during this time.
