Cost of living measures
This budget demonstrates Brisbane City Council's commitment to ease cost of living pressures while delivering for Brisbane’s future.

This budget includes practical financial measures to support residents dealing with the rising costs of living:
- Cutting the annual cost of green waste recycling bins from $93 to $45.
- $2 Summer Dips Initiative to slash the entry fee at Council’s 22 pools to $2 every day throughout summer.
- Eliminating and radically reducing permit fees for hundreds of events and festivals to encourage free and affordable fun.
- Continuing to provide free off-peak travel for seniors.
- Maintaining the cheapest minimum rates in south east Queensland, along with on-time payment discounts and generous rebates for pensioners.
Better transport
Council is keeping commuters moving and helping to build a better Brisbane. Our investment in the transport network will ensure the delivery of key projects.

- $794.3 million – Brisbane’s connected and accessible public transport network to meet current and future demands.
- $99.3 million – Better Roads for Brisbane program including Beams Road and Moggill Road Corridor Upgrades.
- $83.8 million – Additional suburban road upgrades.
- $80.2 million – Bikeways, footpaths and Active Transport Infrastructure Fund.
- $103.3 million – Smoother streets across our 5800km road network, with more than 200 streets to be resurfaced in the next financial year.
- $22.8 million – Intersection upgrades across the city and suburbs to alleviate congestion and improve safety.
- $86 million – River-based infrastructure including ferry terminals and sea and river walls.

Victoria Park
The transformation of Brisbane’s largest new park will reach an important milestone with the release of the Victoria Park / Barrambin Master Plan and a budget allocation of $141 million over the next four years to make it happen.
Plans for Victoria Park will see the creation of a natural retreat and urban park filled with adventure, discovery and reconnection.
Green bridges
Council has this year allocated $125.3 million for construction of the Kangaroo Point and Breakfast Creek Green Bridges.
Work is already underway on connecting Kangaroo Point and the Brisbane CBD and a new crossing at Breakfast Creek.
Council’s Green Bridges Program will make it even easier to get around our city on foot, by bike or scooter, or by connecting with public transport.
Brisbane Metro
Council is delivering the turn-up-and-go Brisbane Metro - a new era of connected transport. Brisbane Metro will link the city to the suburbs and make it easier to connect with the people and places you love.
This year’s budget includes more than $431.8 million to progress this city-shaping project, transforming Brisbane’s public transport and making Brisbane better.

We will continue to invest in suburban infrastructure, including park and playground upgrades, sport and community facilities, libraries and more.

Short-stay Accommodation Taskforce
The new Short-stay Accommodation Taskforce will be looking to provide a best practice approach for Brisbane’s short-stay accommodation market.
