Reducing waste and ensuring we're recycling when we're at work or school, or in the community helps create a clean and green Brisbane.

We can do this by encouraging our colleagues and workplaces, members of our school communities and community organisations to prevent, reuse and recycle waste.

Council developed the WasteSMART Brisbane Awards to recognise and celebrate the achievements of residents and groups who work together for a clean and green city. 

Council has created free, online waste recycling resources to help your school, business or community group achieve its waste minimisation goals and save money.

Council has partnered with community gardens around Brisbane to help residents reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill and create rich compost for use in the community gardens. Registered participants can donate their food scraps at their local community composting hub.
