Receive your backflow prevention notices by email

Switch to paperless testing reminders and fee notices by signing up to receive your Brisbane City Council backflow prevention notices by email to help keep our city liveable and sustainable.

By opting to receive email testing reminders and fee notices, it will also make it quicker and easier to pay fees online and keep up to date with your device testing obligations.

Register for online notices

Complete the online form to register for email delivery of your backflow prevention testing reminders and fee notices.

You will need:

  • a current email address
  • information from your backflow prevention account:
    • your backflow prevention devices (BPD) reference number
    • the property address associated with your backflow prevention devices
    • a contact person name and phone number
  • to accept the terms and conditions.

Upon completion of the form, your preferences will be updated in Council’s database and all your future backflow prevention notices will be sent to the nominated email address.

You may also use the online application form to update the billing name and postal address associated with your registered backflow prevention devices.

Terms and conditions for email delivery

  1. Information provided by you during the registration process must match Council records or your registration will not be completed.
  2. You agree to receive your backflow prevention fee notices and testing reminders associated with the BPD reference and address provided during registration by email and any associated Council documents which normally accompany these notices. Only one email address may be provided.
  3. You understand that you will no longer receive paper backflow prevention testing reminders and fee notices, unless Council receives a delivery failure notification.
  4. You agree that a backflow prevention testing reminder or fee notice is deemed served when it reaches your internet service provider, whether or not you have opened or read the email.

Email delivery failure process

Upon completion of the online registration process, you will receive an automatic email confirming the information you have provided. If the email bounces back, we will investigate and attempt to correct any error. Council may contact you if your information is incorrect.

If Council is unable to contact you or correct any such error, you will continue to receive your backflow prevention testing reminders and fee notices as paper letters to your postal address.

If you have not received your emailed backflow prevention notices, check the following: 

  1. Were your details correct on the online form you submitted?
  2. Is your email mailbox full?
  3. Has the email has gone to your junk/spam mailbox?
  4. Have you added backflow@brisbane.qld.gov.au to your 'safe sender' list with your email provider?

Change of details

To change your email address, contact person details or billing details, complete the online form.

Cancel email delivery

You can cancel email delivery of your backflow prevention notices at any time by completing the online form.
