Apply for or renew parking permits

Brisbane City Council offers a range of accessible ways for eligible residents to apply for or renew a permit through the digital parking permit system.

Council has transitioned to a digital permit system where vehicle registrations area linked to permits. Residents are no longer required to display their permit.

You can renew or apply for a parking permit:

You may nominate up to three streets to appear on your permit. This may include your residential street and two others in close proximity to your street. Your permit will only be valid for use in the streets approved for your permit, in accordance with other parking permit conditions. If you apply for more than one permit, you will need to select the same streets for all your permits.

Payment is required at the time you apply for or renew a parking permit, however payment will not be processed until your application has been reviewed and approved. Find out about parking permit fees.

To apply for a parking permit, you must complete the relevant application form and submit it via your chosen method with the required supporting documentation.  Provide copies of your documentation (not originals), as Council cannot send documents back to you.

Once all information is received, your application will be fully assessed within seven business days. If eligible, your permit will be activated for immediate use.

If further documentation is required, your permit will be activated pending further assessment. The Parking Permit team will contact you to request the relevant documents. If documents are not provided within seven days, your permit will be cancelled. If you wish to reapply, you will need to submit a new application.

Renewing permits

When you renew a resident or visitor parking permit, it will be valid for a full 12 months from the date your current permit expires. You will be sent a notification by email or mail 30 days before your permit expires, inviting you to renew the permit to avoid parking without a valid permit.

Apply or renew online

You can renew or apply for a parking permit online through a self-managed digital portal. Once you have created an account, you can instantly apply for permits, easily update your details and make payments.

Using the online self-managed portal is the quickest way to renew or apply for a permit. This method offers instant activation upon application, provided the correct documentation is submitted. Payment options include credit or debit card (Visa or Mastercard only).
