Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha

The Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha are recognised as Queensland's premier subtropical botanic gardens. Founded in 1970 and officially opened in 1976, the 56-hectare gardens are a key attraction in the Mt Coot-tha precinct.

Entry to the gardens

Entry to gardens is free. The gardens are open seven days a week:

  • 8am-6pm in summer (September to March)
  • 8am-5pm in winter (April to August).

Access to the gardens (via pedestrian entrances) remains open to the public 365 days per year. For the safety of pedestrians, skateboards and scooters are not permitted.

Opening hours differ for the facilities and services in the gardens.

Dogs are not permitted at any time (except for guide and assistance dogs) to protect the gardens and native wildlife with Domesticated animals (including native species) are not permitted at any time (except for guide, hearing and assistance dogs) to protect the gardens and native wildlife.

Parking and vehicle access

Free parking is available in the garden’s main carpark. You can also park at the Ada Street car park, across the road from the main entry.

Vehicle access within the gardens

Vehicle access to the roads within the gardens is not permitted on weekends, public holidays, or from 4pm on weekdays.

Bicycles can be ridden on the roads only and not any pathways.
